Hindustani classical vocalist, poet and composer, Anand Thakore received his early training from Aslam Khan of the Agra-Atrauli gharana. He was for long, under the tutelage of Satyasheel Deshpande, a disciple of Kumar Gandharva. Thakore also received guidance from Baban Haldankar of the Agra Gharana. In 2001, he founded ‘Kshitij’ a group of Hindustani musicians who have been working towards keeping alive the spirit of live music. Thakore is the author of ‘Waking in December’, a collection of poems that won him considerable acclaim.
