Wamanrao Sadolikar

Born on 16th September 1907 at Kothli (Kolhapur), Wamanrao Sadolikar was initiated into classical music in 1920 by music educationist and vocalist Vishnu Digambar Paluskar. A singer- actor, music director and director in Marathi theatre, Wamanrao Sadolikar also had a brief stint in films.

But he became a disciple of Bhurji Khan, the youngest son of Alladiya Khan, the pioneer of the Jaipur-Atrauli gharana. Later, he also became a disciple of Alladiya Khan.

Wamanrao Sadolikar was awarded Sangeet Praveen at Lahore in 1938 by the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. Among the many awards that followed were the ITC SRA Fellowship and the Balgandharv Suvarna Padak by the Marathi Natya Parishad.
