 This album was part of a larger project undertaken by Underscore Records and supported by the Ford Foundation, to create awareness about online distribution of music among musicians, particularly those presenting traditional music.

 Bhajan, or the musical rendering of devotional verses, occupies a unique position in the spiritual, cultural and musical traditions of Maharashtra. Saint poets of Maharashtra used bhajan as a medium to propagate their teachings among the people. This album showcases the bhajan tradition of Maharashtra’s Varkari sect which has the god Shree Vitthal as the central figure.
