In this collection specially released on Underscore Records, Nityanand Haldipur, a significant inheritor of the Pannalal Ghosh style of flute playing, once again brings back to the listeners the magic of the latters music. While doing so, Haldipur retains his individuality. The first track on this album is a reposeful rendition of a vilambit composition in the morning raag Lalit set to the fourteen matra Jhumra taal. This is complimented on the second track by a drut composition in the same raag set to the sixteen matra Teentaal. The third and fourth tracks feature vilambit and drut compositions, respectively, in the evening raag Puriya. Haldipur has chosen two sixteen matra taals for these compositions, but each having a different theka and therefore, an individual character. The slow-paced piece is set to Tilwada and the faster composition is set to Teentaal. Tabla accompaniment is provided by Sandeep Bhattacharya.
