Description

Written in Hindi, Raag Shastra Volume 1 and 2 contains detailed raag descriptions accompanied by notations of a variety of dhrupad, dhamar, khayal and thumri compositions, many by Dr. Geeta Bannerjee's guru Ram Ashreya Jha "Ramrang". The raags covered in Volume 1 include Ramkali, Lalit, Deshkar, Shuddh Kalyan, Chhayanat, Kamod, Gaud Sarang, Jaijaivanti, Shankara, Puriya, Sohni, Malgunji and Bageshri. In Volume 2 you will find notations of compositions and descriptions of the following raags: Darbari Kanhada, Adana, Gaud Malhar, Miyan Malhar, Bahar, Hindol, Desi, Todi, Multani, Puriya Dhanashri, Basant, Paraj, Jaunpuri, Vibhas, Shree and Jogiya.
