This volume contains transcripts of extempore lectures at the Bhatkhande Memorial Lectures given by the Late Prof. Prem Lata Sharma, Prof. Sushil Kumar Saxena and Dr. Kapila Vatsyayana, in 1992, 1998 and 2000, respectively. These lectures were instituted in 1992 as a tribute to scholar-musician and educationist Vishnu Narayan Bhatkhande.

Dr. Prem Lata Sharma's lectures pertain to the History of Indian Music, Prof. Sushil Kumar Saxena's lectures focus on the Aesthetics of Indian Music, and Dr. Vatsyayana's lectures examine the interrelationship of the Indian Arts.
