Belonging to the sixth generation of generation of a family of sarangi players of Muradabad, Fateh Ali was initially trained in vocal music from the early age of seven, by his grandfather Siddique Ahmed Khan, a respected sarangi player. Later, Fateh Ali shifted his focus to sitar playing under the tutelage of Satish Kumar, an eminent sitar player originally from Dharwad in Karnatak. Continuing his training in sitar under the guidance of well-known sitar and been player Shamsuddin Faridi Desai, Fateh Ali went on to embark on a promising performance career.
Fortunate to have had exposure to a wide variety of styles and musical influences, Fateh Ali seeks to combine elements of the khayal gayaki style and the instrumental style in his performance. His music has received appreciation from connoisseurs and uninitiated audiences.
He has had frequent concert tours overseas and has is equally engaged with performances in India.
