Savita Narasimhan
Savita Narasimhan began learning Carnatic music from Sankara Sarma, Rama Ravi, and O.V. Subramaniam. She also learnt tiruppugazh from A.S. Raghavan. She has been undergoing training under Chitravina N. Ravikiran since 1995, and made her debut on the concert stage in the same year.
Savita Narasimhan has performed widely in India and overseas. She is an "A" grade artiste of All India Radio and Doordarshan.
Besides her solo performances, Savita Narasimhan is also the lead vocalist for Alarmel Valli, the noted Bharatanatyam danseuse. She is also one of the main singers in Chitravina N. Ravikiran's ensemble 'Vintage Virtuosos'.
She has received a scholarship for Carnatic music from the Department of Culture, Government of India, and also received 'Talent of the Year' award from Krishna Gana Sabha, Chennai in 2003. She is currently the Principal of the School of Fine Arts established by Hamsadhwani Sabha, Chennai and is a member of faculty in The International Foundation for Carnatic Music.
