Saudagar Ram

Saudagar Ram belongs to the community of Baazigars and is one of the most respected kissa singers in the region, having been a regular performer at All India Radio and various state sponsored functions, besides performing on festive occasions. He learnt the tradition from Naib Kotia Kumhar, a well-known singer in East Punjab (now Pakistan), before migrating to West Punjab during the partition. Almost 80 years old, he lives in Shahbad Markanda in district Kurukshetra (Haryana). He stopped performing in public about ten years ago, lamenting a lack of interest among the audience for his form of music.
